Madeleine talks with historian Tom Emmert, Professor of History at Gustavus Adophus College (Saint Peter, Minnesota). Emmert reminds us why Kosovo is so important to the Serbs. Six centuries ago they lost the region to the Turks, then won it back again in 1912. And while most people in Kosovo are ethnic Albanians, the Serb attachment to the region, Emmert says, is much more visceral than Bosnia or Sarajevo, and could prove more dangerous.
