About Us
Graham Smith (Founder and CEO)
Graham Smith founded Smith Bernal International in 1984 when he was 23 years old. He grew the business based on quality service and investment in value added technology. The company became the world's largest international court reporting company with offices in 5 countries. The company was sold in 1997.
In the early 90s Graham founded LiveNote as part of Smith Bernal's court reporting service. By the late 90s LiveNote had become the world's leading transcript management product. Video and exhibit management followed and since 2003 LiveNote has been voted the most widely used litigation support software in the world in the Am Law Tech survey of the top 200 US law firms. LiveNote was sold in 2006 to Thomson West.
One of the things that interests Graham about iCyte is that it is taking the principles of annotating and document management to a whole new level. While there are various social networks tagging content at the url or page level, iCyte is the first product of its kind to work with professionals and enterprises who need to protect their content and annotate not just at the page level but at the content level within a document.
Stephen Foley (Founder and CTO)
Stephen Foley has worked in software development for over 25 years. He has been fascinated with software research tools that help people to effectively find and categorize information for later recall.
Stephen was the head of the Livenote development team for 6 years, prior to the company being sold to Thomson West. The Livenote product has been very successful in enabling lawyers to search and annotate transcripts.
Foley says, "The iCyte product is really the culmination of all my work. We have developed a tool that will help anybody who needs to do web-based research to easily mark and categorize the information for later recall, eliminating the need for bookmarking and/or copying and pasting".
